Dawn of War 4 Delayed to December 3, and the September Lineup Explains Why

Dawn of War 4 was supposed to launch September 17. Now it's December 3. That's a two-and-a-half month delay from King Art Games, and when you look at what's already landing in September, it's hard to argue with the decision.

The New Dates

December 3 is the new launch date. Commander Edition early access starts November 30 if you're going that route. Creative director Jan Theysen announced the change.

Look at That September Calendar

Marvel's Wolverine. The Blood of Dawnwalker. Control Resonant. Silent Hill Townfall. Onimusha Way of the Sword. That's what September already had stacked up. Then GTA 6 lands in November. Dropping a Warhammer strategy game into that window would have been brutal. December is a cleaner runway, and strategy games tend to do well when people actually have time to sit down with them.

This could mean the delay is also about polish. One possibility is it's both things at once. Either way, December works better.

What's Coming After Launch

The post-launch roadmap is free content starting in 2027, with paid expansions later in the year.

Free content schedule:

Paid DLC:

The mission editor is the one I'm actually watching. If it's any good, the community can push the game's life well past the official content schedule. The Aftermath expansion is also real content, a new faction is not a nothing addition. That's a solid runway if the base game holds people long enough to get there.

December Makes Sense

Strategy games and holiday downtime are a natural match. September was genuinely stacked. The new date gives Dawn of War 4 room to breathe and players time to actually get to it. November 30 for Commander Edition, December 3 for everyone else.
