Path of Exile 2 Finally Has a Full Release Date: December 11, 2026

Grinding Gear Games dropped the date at gamescom Opening Night Live and it's real: Path of Exile 2 hits 1.0 on December 11, 2026. PC via Steam and Epic, plus PS5 and Xbox Series X/S all at once. Free to play. That's the news.

What the Announcement Actually Was

They showed a trailer at gamescom ONL mixing gameplay with cinematics. If you've watched GGG trailers before, you know the format. Looks good, shows off the dark tone, gives you a sense of scope. The actual substance is in the date.

December 11. That's a Friday launch, which is unusual. Most big releases go Tuesday or Thursday. One possibility is they're targeting the holiday shopping window deliberately, getting onto Christmas wishlists before the 25th. Could also just be how the schedule worked out.

The Free Reward Thing

GGG is running a mailing list signup on their website. Sign up, and you'll get exclusive reward codes emailed to you after the full release launches. A few things worth knowing about this:

You don't need an existing Path of Exile account to sign up. So if you've never played PoE 1 and you're coming in fresh for PoE 2, you can still grab the rewards.

You do have to be subscribed at the time they actually send the codes out. If you sign up and then unsubscribe before 1.0 drops, you're out. Each reward also only works once per account. Standard stuff, but worth knowing before you try to claim it on multiple accounts.

Is This Worth Getting Excited About

Depends what you want from an ARPG. PoE 2 is Grinding Gear's attempt at a more deliberate, slower version of the genre. Early access has been polarizing. Some people love it. A lot of PoE 1 veterans hate it.

1.0 means the full game, not just more early access content. That's a meaningful distinction. Early access ARPGs can feel incomplete in ways that affect whether the systems actually work together. What full release means for the build depth and endgame, we'll see in December.

It's free to play, so the barrier to finding out is just your time.
