Star Wars Galactic Racer Leaked for October 6 and I'm Already Worried About My Schedule
Wario64 spotted it on the game's Steam page pre-order infographic before anyone official said a word: Star Wars Galactic Racer drops October 6, 2026. Via IGN. Classic leak pipeline. If the date holds, we've got a podrace game less than six months out and I have questions.
What We Actually Know
It's a podrace-style game. That's the pitch. The Steam page already has pre-order options including a physical steelbook edition and a digital deluxe that comes with exclusive speeder customizations. Platform-specific pre-order bonuses too, which is the kind of thing that sounds fun until you realize you picked the wrong platform and your speeder looks worse than your friend's.
If you're a Star Wars fan who's been waiting for this kind of game, October 6 is your date. Put it in the calendar now.
The October Problem
Here's the thing. GTA 6 is scheduled for roughly one month after Galactic Racer. So we're looking at a Star Wars podracer game in early October, then potentially the biggest release in years right behind it. That's a rough release window to be in. One of these games is going to get buried in the conversation and it probably won't be GTA 6.
This could mean the teams are confident in the audience overlap being small enough to not cannibalize each other. Podrace fans versus open world crime fans. Maybe there isn't much crossover. One possibility is they locked the date before GTA 6's schedule firmed up and now they're committed. Either way, October is suddenly a lot.
Zero Company is Also Coming This Year
Star Wars Zero Company, the tactics RPG, is also slated for 2026. So we're getting two very different Star Wars games in the same year. One is arcade racing, one is squad tactics. That's actually a decent spread if both are good. Neither steps on the other's toes.
Whether both make it to 2026 without delays is a different question.
Should You Pre-order
The steelbook is a nice physical option if that's your thing. The digital deluxe speeder customizations sound like exactly the kind of cosmetic content that varies wildly between "actually cool" and "slightly different paint job." No way to know yet.
Pre-order bonuses being platform-specific is standard practice at this point. Just check what you're getting on your platform before committing.
The Bottom Line
October 6 is the date. Podrace game. Steam page leaked it. Steelbook exists. GTA 6 is right behind it.
I'm interested. The original Star Wars Episode I Racer holds up surprisingly well and there's been nothing like it since. If Galactic Racer captures even half of what made that game click, October is going to be a good month for people who like going very fast through canyons. We'll see if the date sticks.
