AC Black Flag Resynced Update 1.0.6: The Mayan Armor Was Literally Ungetable
Update 1.0.6 drops August 4 at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK. Here's what's actually in it and why one of these fixes matters more than the rest.
The Bug That Needed to Ship Yesterday
Mayan Armor. Completely unobtainable. A Mayan stone was just missing from the Mayan Mysteries quest, so you could do everything right and still never get the armor. That's not a minor edge case bug. That's a whole questline that doesn't work. Good that it's fixed, but if you already burned time on that quest and gave up, I get the frustration.
The PC Fix That Should've Been Caught in QA
Cutscenes locked at 30fps on PC when you had Graphics settings on Custom, starting from a Low preset. So if you tuned your settings at all from the Low baseline, you got 30fps movies no matter what your hardware is. This is the kind of bug that's really hard to defend. It's fixed now, but yeah.
Quality of Life Stuff
Autosaves go from 5 to 10. Underrated. Black Flag has enough mission variety that losing 45 minutes hurts, and 5 slots isn't much buffer. Ten is way more reasonable.
You can now hide Edward's blowpipe via R2 in the inventory under Hide Gear. Small thing. Nice to have if the blowpipe clipping on your outfit was bothering you.
The Hellion Armor cape was clipping in strong winds. Fixed. Not important. Still funny it shipped that way.
The File Size Thing
15.2GB on Xbox Series X/S. 5.03GB on PS5. 1.8GB on Steam. Same patch, wildly different sizes depending on platform. Xbox players are downloading almost 10x more data than PC players for the same update. I don't have a good explanation for that, but it's worth knowing before you hit download tonight if you're on Xbox and have a slow connection.
The Other Fixes
Player getting stuck at the Mariguana Island chest. Fast travel broken to an unsynchronized viewpoint in Havana. Visual gaps in the Nassau fort wall. Missing tutorial for the Throw Money mechanic (which you'd think would show up early). Incorrect price listed for the Kraken ship wheel. PSSR not properly enabling when the same account played PS5 first then switched to PS5 Pro. Simplified Chinese localization wrong in a couple places.
Standard patch cleanup. Nothing dramatic.
New Game Plus Is Coming. Eventually.
It's planned. Not in this update. No date given. Just noting it because if you've been waiting to do another run, that's still somewhere in the future.
Worth Updating
The Mayan Armor fix alone makes this worth grabbing. If you're mid-playthrough and hit that quest, you can actually finish it now. The 30fps PC cutscene fix is good too. The rest is polish.
Download hits tomorrow morning. Xbox, clear some space.
